Floyd Mayweather‘s brutal comments about Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez have resurfaced following his loss to Dmitry Bivol.
The old comments have once again been doing the rounds on social media after the 45-year-old boxing legend revealed he had bet $10,000 on the Russian claiming it was an ‘easy pick up’.
Mayweather, who is considered one of the greatest to ever do it, criticised reporters for their recent praise of Canelo Alvarez after Gervonta Davis’ win over Isaac Cruz last December.
I’m gonna tell you the truth about Canelo – motherf***** easy.
“A cake walk, easy.”
Mayweather continued: “Y’all sitting up here, y’all praising this dude, this dude was nothing.
“I was almost 40 years old when I cooked this dude, easy.”
Mayweather, 45, also accused Canelo of ‘ducking’ David Benavidez and slammed his decision to move up in weight in pursuit of greatness.
Canelo, 31, knocked out Caleb Plant, 29, and then had a request accepted by the WBC to step up and challenge cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu, 34
However he took many people by surprise as he decided to perform an abrupt U-Turn before unsuccessfully challenging Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title.
But Mayweather believes unbeaten former super-middleweight champ Benavidez, 25, would be his toughest fight to date.
He previously said: “He’s going up to cruiserweight, he’s fighting a guy that’s really not, ugh, the guy’s up and down.
If it was up to me, we wanna see Benavidez.
“Canelo’s a helluva fighter, but in my personal opinion he’s ducking David Benavidez.
That’s just my personal opinion and I’m allowed to speak my mind, that’s what it is.
“He’s going up to cruiserweight, I’m not knocking him, but that same guy was at the Mayweather Boxing Gym, the guys were really getting the best of him in the Mayweather Boxing Gym.
“He’s going up to quote-unquote ‘cruiserweight’ – David Benavidez could beat that same guy…
“But when you are put in a certain position he, like me, when I was in the position I can pick and choose who I want to because I earned that right.
“Do I like this fight? Absolutely not. We wanna see Benavidez, let’s make it happen.”
